This pedestal was made of bronze by Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810 – 1892) in the second half of the 19th century, from drawings by Louis Constant Sevin (1821 – 1888) one of the most famous ornamental designers of the Barbedienne house, famous foundry of the 19th century. He collaborated with the greatest manufacturers of his time such as Froment-Meurice or Denière and was regularly rewarded at World Fairs.
Their collaboration brings them to create here a bronze pedestal of which the tripod foot is adorned with beautiful panther's heads and of whiche the feet takes the shape of feline paws. The shelf also in bronze shows a very beautiful decor composed of a succession of palms and ancient motifs in rose. The shelf is adorned with a trompe-l'oeil imitating a marquetery of colored marbles forming a rose.
